Wildflower Group

Wildflower Group (WLDFLWR GRP) is an art & media collective based in Minnesota’s northland. We create and support public art, activism and storytelling to uplift rural frontline communities and encourage creative insurgence in places shaped by extractive industries.  

As part of the fellowship, artists with WLDFLWR GRP will develop and launch a local tourism campaign promoting Talon Mine Tours, free educational tours of a nickel mine that does not exist (yet) in rural Aitkin County. We will also produce a small run newspaper to distribute to mining-affected communities in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, and will record and share a podcast pilot about mining and culture in the Great Lakes region.

In addition to these projects, WLDFLWR GRP will continue to provide free and low cost media and creative services to small community organizations, grassroots activist campaigns, and local leaders in our region who advocate for protection of rural lands, waters, and communities, or climate and economic justice.
